A message from the Inventors

Dear Cigar Smoker,

At your disposal is a truly remarkable but extremely simple product.

Contrary to what many realize, and just like Humidipak’s other products, Bóveda is based on a well known scientific principal that uses salt, saturated in water, to maintain precise humidity levels inside enclosed chambers. The principal has been used for well over one-hundred years. Its swift accuracy at creating and holding a constant predetermined level of relative humidity is very elegant, to say the least, but certainly not new.

What is new, however, is the portable application of this well known principal. When we talk to our former colleagues at General Mills Corporation about the patents we now hold that make the use of saturated salt solutions portable, the common response is: “Why didn’t I think of that!” as they drop their head into both hands in a gesture that suggests “Wow, I could’ve had a V-8!” I’m sure you’ve had one of those feelings at some point in your life.

You see, scientific labs across the world, such as the one we worked in daily at General Mills, regularly use saturated salt solutions to create precise relative humidity levels in chambers. In the lab, when it’s imperative to maintain a constant relative humidity, salt solutions are always used because it’s not possible to maintain a precise humidity with any other method or technology, whether electronic or non-electronic. Instead, salt solutions are always used because their accuracy is certain. As a matter of fact, most salts will hold their characteristic humidity level tighter than plus or minus half a percent.

Without the patents that we hold, the application of this physical law would be limited to use only in labs.

Furthermore, to demonstrate their wide acceptance in the science field, salt solutions are used to measure the accuracy of hygrometers. Not the reverse. Chemists and lab professionals alike use a saturated solution, such as used in Bóveda and all other Humidipak products, to determine the accuracy of a hygrometer, whether electronic or non-electronic. This is why Bóveda—not a hygrometer—can and should be used to establish the correct level of humidity inside your humidor, or to check the accuracy of your hygrometer. No other humidification product on the market can make this claim.

We believe this technology can make the single greatest impact on your cigar smoking pleasure...and we invite you to experience its benefits.
